Amritsar, May 4
Former minister and Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) general secretary Bikram Singh Majithia today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take a decisive action against Pakistan for beheading and mutilating the bodies of the two Indian Army soldiers, including Naib Subedar Paramjeet Singh, in the Poonch Sector recently.
Addressing a public meeting at Pakharpura village in the Majitha constituency, Majithia said like the surgical strike against Pakistan terror camps had a deterrent effect on terrorist activities, a decisive action against Pakistan army operatives who had indulged in the Poonch barbarity was also needed.
The SAD leader also spoke about the wave of repression being unleashed by Congress activists in the state.
He said immediately after the Assembly elections, Congress activists supporting Sukhjinder Singh had tried to browbeat councillors in Majitha to resign from their posts and had even attacked the residence of a Dalit woman councillor.
He alleged that following this, several attacks had taken place across the state with the latest one occurring in Ferozepur two days ago when two SAD workers were killed.
Urging the SAD rank and file to unite and fight out injustice, Majithia warned the civil and police machinery not to become a party in the vendetta drive started by the Congress against SAD workers. “We will launch prosecution proceedings against all officers who fail to perform their duties in an impartial manner,” he said.
