Three-day film fest ends with award nite

AMRITSAR: The three-day Bioscope Global Film Festival, Punjab, and cine awards Punjabi culminated here on Sunday.

The three-day Bioscope Global Film Festival, Punjab, and cine awards Punjabi culminated here on Sunday. The festival was organised under the banner of Prism Foundation. The festival held at Guru Nanak Dev University from September 27 to 30 ended in a cine award night at Sadda Pind in the presence of cine stars and other dignitaries.

The last day saw screening of Punjabi movie Zohra Das Numbari at the university. The award night saw presence of Punjabi cine stars as well. A tribute was paid to Pyare Lal Wadali, the younger brother of Sufi singer Puran Chand Wadali of the Wadali brothers, who passed away in March.

The festival broadcast films in regional languages such as Tamil, Persian, Assamese, Arabic and Swedish. Critical acclaimed short films were also shown. More than 50 films were screened in the period of three days. The film festival also sponsored education of 14 needy children of Class I to XII under their endeavour ‘Chalo Padhaye’. Festival director Jyoti Arora said, “We worked with a mission of promoting 22 Indian regional languages on single platform”
