Tributes paid to Shaheed Udham Singh on his 75th martyrdom day

Various organisations in the city paid rich tributes to Shaheed Udham Singh on his 75th martyrdom day here today. Kamboj Sabha held a programme at Guru Nanak Bhawan, which was presided over by Amritsar Improvement Trust chairman Sandeep Rishi.
Among those who spoke on the occasion and shared details about the struggle and life of Shaheed Udham Singh, include Chaudhry Daulat Ram, chairman, Planning Board, Ferozepur, Dr Sikander Singh, Dr Sewa Singh and others.
Theatre artiset and Punjabi movies actor Anita Devgan staged a play on the occasion while students of Khalsa College presented Jhumar. A cultural programme was also organised in which students of Government Girls School, Mahan Singh Gate, presented giddha. Inmates of Chief Khalsa Dewan Orphanage Centre, where the great martyr spent a good part of his life, read poems at the function.
Meanwhile, Shaheed Udham Singh Foundation, Amritsar, also paid rich tributes to the martyr at Shaheed Udham Singh Yaadgari Hall, Bhagtanwala. Among those who were present on the occasion, include Chief Parliamentary Secretary Inderbir Singh Bolaria, all India BJP secretary Tarun Chugh, SGPC member Harpal Singh, Bawa Singh and others. Vice-chairman, National SC Commission, Raj Kumar Verka, also paid floral tributes to the martyr.
