Tarn Taran: Two persons have been booked for committing fraud. They have been identified as Vikas Malhotra and Amandeep Kaur Aman, residents of Sector 49-C in Chandigarh. They are said to have defrauded a local resident of Rs 6.75 lakh. The victim has been identified as Jagbir Singh of Harike. He said that the accused lured him into giving them money for settling abroad. He said they took Rs 6.75 lakh a year ago but didn’t keep their promise. They also refused to refund the money, he alleged. Sections 420, 120-B, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code have been slapped, the police said. OC
Navjot on Vishakha panel
Amritsar: The Bar Council of India has appointed local advocate Navjot Kaur Chabba as the member of its Vishakha committee that deals with the issues of sexual harassment at workplace. The certificate was presented to Chabba by Hargobinder Singh Gill, advocate of the Punjab and Haryana High Court, during a visit to the Tarn Taran courts on Thursday. He said Chabba had become the first female advocate member from Punjab to make it to the panel. TNS
