The Language Department (Bhasha Vibhag) is going to start evening classes for residents who want to learn the Urdu language. The classes would be conducted at the department’s district office at Sant Singh Sukha Singh School Chowk. The six-month course would start on July 3. Officials of the Language Department said people interested in learning Urdu could join the course by submitting an application at the department office. They said the classes would start at 5:15 pm and there was no age restriction for joining the course.

District Language Officer Bhupinder Singh said, “The course is free for all applicants and anyone keen to learn the language can get admission.” The state government has been making efforts to promote the language as Manpreet Badal recently announced an Urdu Academy in Malerkotla.
