Amritsar, April 3
“When you enter the central exhibition hall of the Art Gallery these days, it appears as if you are turning round and round on the Bakrota hills of Dalhousie, enjoying the scenic beauty- glorious, grandeur and green hills,” shared Dr PS Grover, an artist and general secretary, Indian Academy of Fine Arts.
The reason for the observation is the painting exhibition of watercolour art that opened at the gallery. A collection of works by 22 artists from city decorates the walls, all of them taking inspiration from the hill town of Dalhousie where they went for an art workshop.
“Each painting speaks volumes about the natural beauty; fascinating huts amongst wood, a curvy hill road, sunset, a portrait and what not. Anything that catches the eye or imagination of an artist is there on the canvas. These paintings were made during live interactions and an outdoor surrounded by the old world charm of hills,” said Kulwant Singh Gill, a featured artist.
The exhibition also has kept an affordable price tag for these paintings to encourage buyers to promote art through sales. The artists include Dharminder Sharma, Kulwant Singh Gill, Narinder Singh Sculptor, Inderpreet Kaur, Gopal Kirodiwal, Varinderpal Singh, GulshanKumar Sadana, Atul Mehra, Kawal Sehgal, Sukhpal Singh, Gursharan Kaur, among others. — TNS
