Mamta Dutta has become the councillor for the fourth time after winning the MC elections from Ward No. 11.
Dutta said she had plans for revamping the areas that come in her ward. The councillor said besides working for development, she would remain approachable to residents of her ward.
Dutta, who is the president of the Punjab Pradesh Mahila Congress, has an experience of over 18 years in politics and belongs to a political family. She is the sister-in-law of MLA Sunil Dutti and one of the probables for the Mayor post.
“I am elected by the people. It is my job that residents of my ward live in one of the most developed wards. But having a long-term relationship with them matters the most. I am just a call away and people of my area can come to meet me. Throughout my career, I liked to remain in touch with residents. I will not disappear after winning the elections,” says 42-year-old councillor.
Talking about her priorities in the ward, the councillor stressed on women’s security, keep a check on snatching and crime incidents and ensuring proper civic facilities to residents.
She said, “I know the issues of my ward. I have already started working on them. I have got police patrolling intensified as residents of a few areas complained of criminal activities.”
“Though most of the areas are fairly developed, areas such as Kirpal Avenue and others are in dire need of development. Street lights are required to be installed in Kirpal Avenue and work on it has already started,” the councillor added.
She expresses her gratitude to the voters and husband Deepak Dutta for their support. She said, “I am thankful to the people for showing faith in me and my husband Deepak Dutta.”
