One day national conference on current advances in physical sciences (CAPS-2019) was organised by the PG Department of Physics, Khalsa College here on Thursday. Dr Manish Dev Sharma, Panjab University, Chandigarh, highlighted the history of electronics from the days of electro-mechanically operated telephone systems. The discussion was held on working of micro controller, microprocessor and display systems using LEDs.

Another speaker Dr Bir Bikram Singh from Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University, Fatehgarh Sahib, spoke about the discovery of radioactivity to the present day research going on in nuclear laboratories. He pointed out the importance of these developments for better understanding the novel phenomena related to nucleon synthesis and astrophysical processes. Around 200 persons participated in the meet.—TNS
