The Department of Sports Medicine and Physiotherapy of Guru Nanak Dev University (GNDU) celebrated the World Physiotherapy Day today.
Quiz and speech competitions were organised on the occasion. A large number of students and faculty members participated in the event.
Prof Shyamal Koley, head of the department, who was the chief guest on the occasion, delivered the inaugural speech. He also discussed the importance and latest trends in physiotherapy in the present day life.
In the quiz competition, the Muligan Group comprising Navneet Kaur (BPT-first year), Riya Chhabra (BPT-second year), Manpreet Kaur(BPT-third year), Jivesh Khanna (BPT-fourth year) and Deepesh Patel (MPTS-first semester), won the first prize.
In the speech competition, Lakshi (BPT-third year) from the undergraduate level and Gurpreet Kaur (MPTS-first semester) from the postgraduate-level won the first prize.
Students of the MPT(S), first semester, presented a skit titled ‘Physiotherapy: Ajj di zarorat.’
The application of physiotherapy was also discussed by Dr Sarika, Dr Maman Paul and Dr Archna Sharma during the celebrations. Students of MPT(S), third semester, took the lead in celebrating the World Physiotherapy Day.
