Youth from Haryana ends life

Jaskaur Singh (22), a resident of Habbowal village in Sirsa (Haryana), committed suicide by hanging himself from the ceiling fan at a guest house inside the Mahan Singh Gate area near Golden Temple here.
The incident came to light when he did not come out of his room and repeated knocks at his door by the guest house staff in the noon received no response. The guest house authorities immediately informed the police, which came to the spot and broke open the door only to find him hanging.
Police authorities contacted his family members over the phone and informed them about his taking the extreme step of ending his life. Mental stress is stated to be the reason behind the incident.
Rajwinder Kaur, SHO, Division A police station, said his family members said he had suicidal tendencies and was under treatment. He used to tell his family that he would end his life and that he didn’t want to live.
Jaskaur Singh had come to the holy city yesterday afternoon without informing his family members who were repeatedly trying to contact him over the phone. He responded to their calls in the night and started crying. He was expressing his wish to end his life and later disconnected the phone.
The SHO said the police had initiated action under the CrPC and they were awaiting the arrival of his family members. After completing legal formalities, his body would be handed over to his family after a postmortem examination.
