Jeet foundation, a self help group society (NGO), celebrated its third annual function with their students at Urban Estate, Dugri, Phase II. Certificates were distributed to 225 students who completed their courses from different training centres of the Jeet Foundation. Founder of Sarbat da Bhala Charitable Trust SP Singh Oberoi donated 25 sewing machines and four computers to Jeet Foundation. A cultural programme was also organized by the new and old students of the foundation. Fashion show, group dance, giddha and patriotic songs were the highlights of the event. President of the Jeet Foundation Sukhvinder Kaur stated, “Since 2012, the foundation is conducting vocational courses like cutting, tailoring, beautician courses and computer education to deprived section of the society. Our training centres are situated in and around Ludhiana. These centers are being run for girls and ladies of the weaker section of the society to provide them skill-based training.
IDA training programme
The Indian Dental Association (IDA) held a training programme on basic life support for its members at SPS Apollo Hospital. It was inaugurated by Dr Jaidev Singh Dhillon, president of the association. Dr Anupam Srivastva gave a presentation on basic life support system while Dr Ashish Jain described about the first aid in dental clinic.
Pulse Polio drive
The pulse polio drive entered its second day on Monday. Total number of children vaccinated till now stands at 1,44,553 and the number of houses visited by the team were 3,48,111. Children in the age group of 0-5 years are being administered polio drops. The drive is on till February 26.
Lucky draw
City resident Raghbir Singh won an Eon car at a lucky draw taken out by Markfed on Monday. Speaking on the occasion, chairman Jarnail Singh said Markfed was here to help the farmers and the products prepared by Markfed, especially packaged food was popular worldwide. —TNS
