He did not undergo any formal training in music and yet he continues to delight listeners with his mellifluous voice. Becoming a singer never really figured on his wish-list; he always yearned to be a cricketer! Had it not been for his friends’ insistence to take his singing prowess to public platforms, singer-actor Atif Aslam would perhaps have been best spotted on green fields — batting and bowling.
The Aadat hit-maker’s latest offering that is swiftly becoming the talk of the town is Tere Sang Yaara, from the upcoming Akshay Kumar and Ileana D’cruz-starrer Rustom. Within six days of being released on YouTube, the song has garnered an overwhelming response from music enthusiasts, with the number of hits already touching a little over a million!

Atif Aslam climbed the ladder of fame with his band Jal, when he lent his voice to the song Aadat, which went viral within a matter of some weeks. The band went on strong until Atif decided to part ways to pursue his solo career. It now has Goher Mumtaz for its vocalist, while Saad Sultan figures as the lead guitarist. Atif is also the youngest recipient of Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, a Pakistani civilian decoration.

Some of the chart-topping songs delivered by Atif include Woh Lamhe Wo Baatein from Emraan Hashmi-starrer Zeher, Pehli Nazar Mein from Race, Hona Tha Pyar from the film Bol, and Tu Jaane Na from the movie Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani.

Inborn talent
The most startling thing I find about Atif is that without having received formal training in music, he is simply splendid.

As they say, Atif and music, when clubbed together, can never go wrong! Anyhow, Atif fan or not, you will relish this track to the hilt, for that is the true mark of a genius — to appeal not just to set fans, but to new music buffs each day!
Lines to remember
One cannot hold back a wide smile every time Atif sings beautiful lines from the song — Tujhpe marke hi toh/ Mujhe jeena aaya hai.
