The Baisakhi festival was celebrated with a great enthusiasm and fervour across the Jammu region on Sunday.

Hundreds of people participated in the Baisakhi Mela organised at Canal Road here. There was a huge rush at the fair as people started thronging the venue since morning.

The harvesting festival holds a special significance among the Sikhs as it also commemorates the foundation of the Khalsa panth by Gobind Singh in 1699.

Various gurdwaras were decked with colourful lights and flowers as various Sikh organisations held ‘nagar kirtans’ besides arranging community kitchens around the city.
