Members of a family which became victim of the 1992 blast incident that occurred on the Janta Express at Jind on February 8, 1992, are demanding compensation from the state government.

Paro (52) and her son Vinod Kumar (30) said Tota Ram was killed in the blast that took place on the train while the trio were on the way to Delhi. However, the family got an immediate relief of Rs 1 lakh as compensation but claimed that the state government had not provided them any job or compensation.

A school principal, freedom fighter and chairman of the Family Welfare Society, Jagdish Singh Ghai, said: “The state government had not provided them any compensation and a job till now, whereas anyone who is a victim of extremism or terrorism gets compensation and job for the kin of deceased.

With Vinod being unemployed, the family is in a poor financial condition. The government should provide them compensation and job to a kin of the deceased.”
