District and Sessions Judge-cum-Chairperson, District Legal Services Authority (DLSA), Tejwinder Singh said today that the National Lok Adalat would be held in Bathinda on December 12 wherein cases would be settled with mutual consent of parties on a priority basis.
Accompanied by Chief Judicial Magistrate-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Amita Singh, the District and Sessions Judge said 20 judicial Benches and 16 revenue Benches would hear the cases.
Tejwinder Singh stated that in the district, the lok adalats would be held at Bathinda, Phool and Talwandi Sabo.
Of the 20 judicial Benches constituted, 16 are at Bathinda, two at Phool and three at Talwandi Sabo.
He said those who were willing to get their cases enlisted in the lok adalat could give their applications either in the court concerned or at the office of the Chief Judicial Magistrate/Secretary, DLSA.
He said there were no court fees for the lok adalat and if the case was settled in the lok adalat, the fees paid previously were reimbursed.
He said the matters decided in the lok adalat could not be appealed against in any court as the justice has been delivered with mutual consent of the parties. He appealed the people to bring their cases in the lok adalat for quicker and cheaper means of justice.
He said during the December 12 lok adalat, new and long-pending civil cases, cases under the Negotiable Instruments Act, Section 138, marriage and domestic dispute-related cases, labour cases, land acquisition cases, inteqal and civil cases, distribution, rent, bank recovery cases, relief matters, revenue-related cases, cases under MGNREGA, water and power bills, sales tax, income tax and property tax-related cases.
Also, the cases pertaining to salaries, allowances, retirement benefits, forest Act, railway claims, natural disaster compensation, miscellaneous appeals and debt recovery tribunal can be brought.
