4,384 register for admission to 15 courses at govt college

The week-long admission process at Government Rajindra College closed on Monday with as many as 4,384 aspirants had registering online to seek admission to 15 different courses.

This year, the government college has also introduced a new course, BCom (honours). Students have applied for 10 undergraduate and five postgraduate courses at the college this year.

For BCA (Bachelor of Computer Application), 267 students have registered while 179 have registered for MA (political science).

For MA (history) 117 students have applied, for MA (philosophy) 49, MSc (mathematics) 99 and MSc (physics) 73.

For BA, as many as 2,183 and for BCom 635 students have registered for admission.

For BSc, aspirants with more than 82 per cent marks and for BCA aspirants with 74 per cent and above were called for counselling.

For BSc (medical), aspirants with 72 per cent or above, for BA 80 per cent or above and for BCom aspirants with 87 per cent or above were called in the general category.

Meanwhile, some admission aspirants rued that despite depositing the fee on time, they did not receive the fee challans.

The students were seen making rounds of different sections of the college, including principal’s office, and making queries.

Satveer Singh, officiating principal, Government Rajindra College, said, “There was some network related problem, but it has been solved now and fee challans are being issued to students.”

Regarding the late admissions, Singh said, “From Tuesday onwards, a late fee of Rs 500, as per the Punjabi University guidelines, would be charged from admission aspirants.”

New course introduced
