Bathinda: The junior wng of Different Convent School organised its annual function “Satyamev Jayate” here today. The function was made colourful due to performances by the students of the school. The programme was chaired by Mayor Balwant Rai Nath while Chief Parliamentary Secretary Sarup Chand Singla gave away prizes to the students. The function was inaugurated by Surjit Singh Boparai, who lighted the ceremonial lamp. Students began the function by presenting a choreography on the songs ‘Satyam Shivam Sundaram’ and ‘Oh My Friend Ganesha’. Students of upper kindergarten moved the audience to tears with their touching performance dedicated to parents. Chairman of the school MK Manna and Principal Veenu Goyal spoke about the achievements of the students of the school.

Mount Litera students shine in science olympiad

Students of Mount Litera Zee School, Rampura Phul, have brought laurels to the school by participating in National Cyber Olympiad (NCO) conducted by Science Olympiad Foundations (SOF) and coming out with flying colours in it. Ashish Bansal of grade 6 and Tavleen Kaur of grade 2 secured the sixth and 48th rank at the state level, respectively. The contest was organised by the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) on September 23. This is the world’s biggest Olympiad contest. More than 35,000 schools, 1,400 cities and 40 lakh students of 19 countries took part in it. Chairman of the school Bhushan Bansal, president Gagan Bansal and principal Prem Ojha congratulated the students and computer teachers Vaibhav Vatsa and Dolly Maheshwari on their success. The chairman said the school would have robotics as a subject from the forthcoming session. A plan has been finalised in consultation with the experts, he added. — TNS
