Natyam Theatre Group from Jaitu, in association with the Punjab Sangeet Natak Academy, Chandigarh, will organise three-day Balwant Gargi Theater Festival in the city starting from December 25.
Chairperson of the group Dr Kashish Gupta and director Kirti Kirpal released the poster at a press meet organised at a private hospital.
Addressing mediapersons here today, chairperson of the group, Dr Kashish Gupta and director Kirti Kirpal said the festival was dedicated to the 100th birth anniversary of Balwant Gargi. In this festival three plays will be performed which are written by Balwant Gargi.
They stated that on the first day, the Natak Lok Kala Manch from Mullapur would stage a play, ‘Kanak Di Balli’, under the direction of Harkesh Chowdhary. On December 26, Sirjana Art Group from Raikot would perform “Ghuggi” play under the direction of Sompal Heera and on the last day own team of Natyam would stage “Mirza Sahiba” play under the direction of Kirti Kirpal. These plays will be performed at SSD Girl College auditorium in the evening.
They also said to see the plays, people would have to collect entry passes from Cygnus Hospital, Hotel Stella, Pizzano, Export Hut, Be Beautiful and mobile centre at Mittal Mall.
Also present during the conference were Mohit Sharma, Pawan Naad, Navneet Singh, Vinish Goyal, Ranjit Singh, Om Prakash Chawla, Sunil Gupta, Sudarshan Gupta, Amandeep Singh and others.
