Muktsar, September 18
Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission member Karanvir Indora on Wednesday directed the police to book the accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the case in which the complainant was not allowed to cultivate his own land.
The complainant, Jagmeet Singh, a Dalit man of Enakhera village, had already filed a complaint in this regard.
Jagmeet had recently met the Scheduled Caste panel member and sought justice. He told the member that he had purchased 4 kanals, but some people were not allowing him to cultivate the land. Jagmeet said those people had even attacked him and his father sometime ago.
The Malout (Sadar) police have booked three persons in this regard. However, later, the accused registered a false complaint against him, said Jagmeet. Indora on Wednesday assured him that justice would be delivered.
