Book accused under SC/ST Act as well, police directed

Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission member Karanvir Indora on Wednesday directed the police to book the accused under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act in the case in which the complainant was not allowed to cultivate his own land.

The complainant, Jagmeet Singh, a Dalit man of Enakhera village, had already filed a complaint in this regard.

Jagmeet had recently met the Scheduled Caste panel member and sought justice. He told the member that he had purchased 4 kanals, but some people were not allowing him to cultivate the land. Jagmeet said those people had even attacked him and his father sometime ago.

The Malout (Sadar) police have booked three persons in this regard. However, later, the accused registered a false complaint against him, said Jagmeet. Indora on Wednesday assured him that justice would be delivered.

The Punjab State Scheduled Caste Commission member also asked the police to submit a report in this regard by September 25.

Man not allowed to cultivate his land

Jagmeet Singh, a Dalit man of Enakhera village, had filed a complaint that he had purchased 4 kanals, but some people were not allowing him to cultivate the land. He had also met the SC panel member and sought justice in this regard.
