The police have registered many cases but failed to make any headway in any of them.

In the latest incident, burglars managed to steal material from Government High School at Natt village in Talwandi Sabo sub-division.

A case has been registered at the Talwandi Sabo police station under Sections 457 and 380 of the IPC against unidentified persons today.

In a complaint lodged by Ramneek Bansal, the principal of the school, it has been stated that unidentified persons, after breaking the lock of the computer lab, decamped with LED monitor along with computing device, six mouse and one printer.

Investigating officer Gurmej Singh said the incident took place last night and investigation was on. According to the police, the schools are a soft target due to lack of security at night.

In July last year, burglars targeted three government schools in the district in one week and decamped with material worth more than Rs 10 lakh, including computers.

These theft incidents were reported at Jassi Bagwali, Hamirgarh and Dayalpura villages.

In another incident, thieves stole costly iron material from a workshop at the 80-feet road, North Estate. The Civil Lines police have arrested two of the three accused.

In his complaint, Harjivan Singh, a resident of Chugge Khurd village, alleged that unidentified persons stole iron material worth Rs 1.5 lakh from his workshop yesterday.

Later, the police traced the accused and arrested two of them. Kuldeep Simgh Bhullar, SHO of the Civil Lines police station, said they had recovered some material too.

A case under Sections 380, 457 and 411 of the IPC has been registered against the accused.
