C-PYTE helping youth get into Army

To enable youngsters to gain entry in the Army and to impart them technical education, the Centre for Training and Employment of Punjab Youth (C-PYTE) at Kaljharani village imparts training free of any charge. Besides Bathinda, such centres are being run at 16 other places wherein men are trained. At the C-PYTE Centre Borawala (Mansa) training is imparted to both boys and girls, while at Tarn Taran is center is exclusively meant for girls.

The officer in-charge of C-PYTE camp, Major Balkaran Singh Mann (retd), said besides providing free education, the trainees are also given free residential and food facility. In 2007, the camp was started from Talwandi Sabo and till now, it has trained almost 7,000 youngsters.

He also added that annually, around 850 youngsters are given training in different disciplines that include Army, para military forces and police. These also include technical education imparted for making youth become carpenter, welder, electrician, plumber, vendor, dairy farming, security guard, JCB operator, are taught basic computer course and many other things.

He added that the course in food processing is conducted at C-PYTE, Mohali campus, and if someone wants to get enrolled in this course, he or she can contact at the Kaljharani campus. For any kind of further information one can contact at 0164-2421140.

Major Mann added that there are proper arrangements on the campus to provide facilities to under trainees. The government has installed an RO plant worth Rs 1.5 lakh to provide safe drinking water. For providing more infrastructure, the government has sanctioned Rs 52 lakh, while Rs 30 lakh have been spent earlier. He added that the training staff, too, has been increased.

He said the three-storied centre, spread over 8 acres, has two-storied hostel which have been constructed at a cost of Rs 2.5 crore. He added that training ground I is spread in 6 acres, including 400 m running track, football ground, volleyball ground, basketball court, gymnasium hall etc.

Besides these there is big classroom, separate building for the staff, cook house and arrangements for providing recreational activities to the students.
