Cast and crew of the upcoming Punjabi film ‘Rupinder Gandhi – The Gangster’ were in Bathinda today as part of their promotional tour. The film has been produced by Dream Reality Movies and is based on the life of a sarpanch, Rupinder Singh Gandhi from Khanna (Punjab), who was a prolific sportsman and a daring leader who sacrificed his own dreams for the uplift of the weak and downtrodden.

Directed by Tarn Mann and produced by Daljit Singh Bola, Ravneet Chahal and Taranvir Singh, the film stars Dev Khroud and Kul Sidhu in lead roles. Tarn, Daljit and Dev were in the city today to interact with the media.

Talking about the film, writer-director Tarn Mann said, “I think everyone should take it as a piece of art first because so many people have worked really hard to make the film. Secondly, if you talk about the subject of the film, we are not really trying to be a judge. As you see, our title has a question to the audience, so they will decide themselves about what has been shown in the film.”

TV and film actor Dev Khroud is keeping his fingers crossed for the film and believes that this project will prove beneficial for his career. He said, “For any actor, playing a real life character is beneficial. Here, the advantage is that the protagonist is from Punjab itself and I could relate comfortably with him as an actor. The film required a lot of hard work and that gives me a creative satisfaction which is above anything else.”

Producer Daljit Singh Bola said that the film is a conscious effort towards changing the definition of Punjabi cinema. “We also love the comedy flicks but as entertainers we take it as our duty to give a new direction to our industry. I hope this film will open new doors of creativity,” he said.
