The Bathinda CIA-II police team has arrested a fake IPS officer, who was posing as the SSP and fooling people in the Rampura area here. The accused has been identified as Gurnishan Singh of Kotbhai village in Muktsar district.
It is learnt that Gurnishan Singh wanted to become an IPS officer and in 2005 he had taken the sub-inspector recruitment exam, but could not qualify it. Irked over his poor performance, he got a police uniform stitched and started wearing it along with a batch of IPS as well.

Further, during interrogation, the accused revealed that he used to claim himself as a batch mate of Bathinda SSP Dr Nanak Singh.
The police have registered a case against the accused at the Rampura police station. The accused had not committed any fraud against anyone. He studied up to Class XII and since his childhood he wanted to become an IPS officer.
