City cager makes it to Punjab girls’ team

Sana Grover, a resident of the city, made it to the Punjab U-14 basketball team. She will join the state team for the third time. The selection camp was held in Bhikhi in which 24 girls from all over the state took part. Of the total, 12 were selected for the state team.
Sana is alone cager from Bathinda who has been selected for the state team. She left for Rajnandgaon in Chhatisgarh along with the team to represent Punjab for the sub-junior national tournament to be held from December 7 to 11.
Thirteen-year-old Sana has had an inclination towards sports from her childhood. She won gold for state in Taekwondo (U-14) at the age of 10.
Sana, a class VII student of St Joseph’s Senior Secondary School, Bathinda, is excited on her selection in the state team.
The daughter of Harvinder Tinku Grover, secretary, Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee, and Shuchita Grover, educationist, gave credit for her selection to her family.
Her coach Sarabjeet Kaur said she always knew that Sana had the calibre and would performed extremely well at all state-level camps. She said, “I had full confident in her that she would do well in both tournaments that she had played for Punjab in the past. She will be permitted to take exams once she comes back after the completion of the tournament. It is a proud moment for the school.”
