City girl Amandeep Kaur Dhanoa has secured the 311th rank in the Civil Services examinations.
The results were declared on Friday. Amandeep, a resident of Ajit Road area, said it was her dream to become a civil servant.
“Next year, I will again take the exam to improve my rank,” said Amandeep. She may join the Indian Revenue Service (IRS) this year.
Amandeep passed her Class X from Saint Paul’s High School, Bathinda, and Class XII from Saint Xavier High School here.
Later, she did her mechanical engineering from BITS, Pilani. She has also worked with Caterpiller Company in Chennai.
While talking to Bathinda Tribune, Amandeep said, “It was my third attempt. In the first two attempts, I made it to the interview round and I missed the chance by 9 and 11 marks, respectively.” She gave the credit of her success to hard work, persistence and family.
“I used to read 8 to 12 hours in a day for preparing the Civil Services examination. I relied on self-study than coaching centres,” she added.
Amandeep added that she was not using social media for the past three years for preparing the examination. “I was focused and stayed away from all distractions. I am glad my patience and hard work rewarded me and these are required to achieve a goal and one should continue to put in efforts,” she said.
Dr Lal Singh Dhanoa, father of Amandeep, is a doctor and he said, “My daughter’s hard work has paid off. I am very happy for her success.”
