City student wins medal at wushu meet in Georgia

Davinder Singh, a Class XI student of arts stream of Baba Farid Senior Secondary School and a resident of Butter village, has brought laurels to the institution and the city by winning a bronze medal in the 8th International Wushu Championship held recently in Georgia.

Davinder participated in the senior wing and fought under 80 kg weight category. The institution gave a grand welcome by presenting bouquets and garlands to Davinder.

Davinder (17) has won many competitions in a couple of years at the international, national, state and district level. Earlier, he had won the third position in a championship in Holland.

Davinder was today honoured with a trophy and bouquet.

School principal Baljinder Singh congratulated Davinder Singh for his achievement.

Further, chairman of the BFGI, Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, also congratulated the shining star for the wonderful victory and said the credit went to his coach Pradeep Kumar Sharma and the in charge of sports Jatinder Sharma for training and motivating Davinder.

He also congratulated his parents on the occasion. He also praised the efforts of the sports department. — TNS
