City students have made a mark in the Joint Entrance Examination (Advanced) to gain admission to top institutes in the country.
Five students have made the city proud by securing good ranks in the test, the result of which was declared on Sunday morning.
Mohit Gupta, a student of Sanawar School, has secured 323 all-India rank (AIR) in the JEE (Advanced). It was his first attempt.
While talking to Bathinda Tribune, Mohit said he wanted to pursue engineering in computer science as his ultimate aim is to do inventions in this field.
His father is a government school teacher while his mother is a homemaker.
He said he did not fix his daily hours of study, but he was particular about revising the study material he did in school and coaching centre.
“I haven’t done anything special to clear the JEE (Advanced) exam,” he said.
Mohit gave the credit of his success to his teachers and parents, who always motivated him to do well. He believes that focus and consistency were must to achieve goals in life.
A happy-go-lucky city student, Ritika Garg, has scored 639 all-India rank (AIR) in the test.
She took coaching from an institute in Chandigarh. It was her first attempt. Other city students Varun Goyal got AIR 889, Vasu Goyal AIR 3,113 and Hritik AIR 4,358.
