Jaspal Singh, a Congress leader, said, “We had requested the SDM to arrange some special funds for the cleanliness of the town. Finally, the work started and on Wednesday, cleanliness work was carried out on main roads and Ravidas Nagar. Some tractor-trailers have been hired to lift the garbage dumped in streets and roadsides.”

“Cleaning and de-silting of the sewerage system is also underway. Three machines have been pressed into service for the purpose. We are hopeful that the situation will improve in the next few days,” he added.

Seeking better civic amenities, SAD workers had also staged a protest recently.
