Bathinda, August 24
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) secretary Iqbal Singh Dhillon has been issued a show-cause notice by PPCC general secretary Sandeep Singh Sandhu for anti-party activities.
In the notice, it is stated that a complaint has been received against him that he is indulging in anti-party activities and trying to tarnish the image of the party.
“Seven days have been given to clear your stand that why we should not suspend you from the party,” it states.
The notice was issued on August 18 and a copy has also been sent to Congress Bathinda (Urban) president Mohan Lal Jhumba.
While talking to Bathinda Tribune over phone, Iqbal Singh Dhillon denied that any show-cause notice has been issued to him by the party.
Mohan Lal Jhumba confirmed that Iqbal Singh Dhillon has been issued the notice.
Dhillon is a close aide of Congress leader and former minister Harmander Jassi.
A few days ago, councillors Jugraj Singh and Nirmal Kaur had opened a front against a leader of former minister Harmander Jassi’s group, who was holding parallel meetings in the city, by lodging a complaint with Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh and PPCC chief Sunil Jakhar, recommending action against Jassi’s key aide.
They had alleged that Jassi’s aide was holding public meetings in the name of Capt Amarinder Singh and promising people to get their works done.
They also appealed to the party workers to stay alert and not come under any wrong influence.
