Bathinda, September 4
A large number of workers under the banner of CPI (ML) and the Mazdoor Mukti Morcha on Tuesday took out a protest march and later gheraoed the ADC (Development) office in the city.
They protested against the Central and state governments over the issues of MNREGA, stopping the ongoing works on the temporary routes as per law and attacks on minorities and activists in the country.
Addressing the protesters, Mazdoor Mukti Morcha state president comrade Bhagwant Singh Samao said the Modi government instead of giving jobs, was giving inflation and corruption whereas it had promised to give 2 lakh jobs to youths every year.
He said instead of making a farmer, youth-oriented policy, it was busy in making pro corporate house policies and ensuring doubling of their income.
He alleged that the government was looting the common person by raising the prices of petrol, diesel and skyrocketing inflation.
Addressing the protesters, other speakers said that the Modi government was working like a “Hitler” by arresting and lodging activists, advocates and journalists in jail. They claimed that at present democracy was under threat and all those who earned their bread and butter by doing hard work were under fear. They said this was the reason that labourers were forced to strengthen their organization.
