ETT teachers, who were merged with the State Education Department from under the Zila Parishad jurisdiction, today met the District Education Officer( elementary) Shivpal Goyal in connection with their long-pending demands. During the meeting, the teachers pointed out that despite the fact that the merger was done several months ago, their demands are yet to be met by the education department.
After lending an ear to their demands and reading about the same in detail in the memorandum submitted by the teachers deputation, the DEO promised that the department would work towards arriving at a solution to their demands at the earliest.
Elaborating on the demands of the ETT teachers, district president of their union, Gurjeet Singh, said the teachers wanted that the process of rationalisation as a part of which teachers were being shifted from one school to another, should be done with complete transparency. The DEO promised the teachers that the transfers of teachers would be done with complete transparency.He said physically-disabled and widowed teachers would be transferred as per the policy only.
The DEO also promised that the department would soon issue directives for the earliest release of any outstanding payments towards the salary of allowances of the teachers. Also present during the meeting were Jagmail Singh, Arjan Singh Dhillon, Narpinder Nidhi, Rajinder Singh, Joga Singh, Harsimrandeep Singh, Gurjit Singh, Jagjit Singh, Pratap Singh among other teachers.
