Entrance test for admission to meritorious school on June 12

The entrance test to get admission to Senior Secondary Residential School for Meritorious Students will be held on June 12. This was announced by District Education Officer (secondary) Dr Amarjit Kaur Kotfatta here today. The counseling for filling the seats will begin on July 7.

Following the declaration of Class X examination results by the Punjab School Education Board (PSEB), the procedure for admission to Senior Secondary School for Meritorious Students for the academic session 2016-17 will be starting from May 27. This information was shared by Dr Kotfatta.

Elaborating on the admission procedure, the DEO said students, who had scored 80 per cent or above marks in the Class X examination, were eligible to apply for admission to the school. He said students have to register themselves for the admission.

She added that meritorious students from Government Senior Secondary Schools, Government High Schools, Dashmesh School Talwandi Sabo and Adarsh Schools could apply for admission.

She further added that there were seven such schools for meritorious students in the state which offer senior secondary education in the medical, non-medical and commerce streams. Students can get more information regarding the admission by logging on the website www.ssapunjab.org.

Giving instructions for online registration for admission to these schools, the DEO said at the time of online admission, the students needed to fill a verification code in the online application form to complete the procedure successfully. The verification code would be generated and sent on the mobile number which would be mentioned by the student while filling its application form.

She said after filling the online application, an admit card would be generated and on the basis of that the applicants would be called to appear for entrance examination. A merit list based on the performance in the test would be prepared and displayed at the schools and online, she added.

The applicants need to carry their Adhaar Card, driving license, passport or any other identity proof at the time of counseling.

The applicants have also been advised to keep checking the details of admission procedure on the website as any changes in the schedule of entrance examination and counseling will be uploaded on the website.
