The management of Guru Kashi University (GKU) today honoured Gagandeep Kaur, a student of Bachelor of Arts, who has brought laurels to the university by winning a bronze medal in the All India Inter-University Boxing Championship, held in Kurkshetra.

Dr Kewal Singh, director sports, GKU, said Gagandeep also participated in the Sub-Junior Boxing World Cup held at Bulgaria in 2013.

Apart from this, she is a gold medalist of School National Boxing Championship 2013. As per university rules she was awarded with cash prize of Rs 20,000.

Gurlabh Singh Sidhu, chairman of GKU, congratulated Gagandeep Kaur, her parents and coaches for her achievement.

He also assured every sort of help to the students in sports and academia.

SS Sidhu, managing director, Dr NS Malhi Vice-Chancellor, Col Dr BS Dhaliwal, Dean Academics, Dr Amit Tuteja, Deputy Registrar, Gurdev Singh Kot Fatta, administrative officer, Dr Pawan Kumar Garg, Dean, Basic Sciences College, coaches Prof KPS Mahi and Hardeep Singh, other staff members and Jagsir Singh, father of Gagandeep Kaur, were also present on the occasion.
