Owing to its concerted efforts to ensure maximum job opportunities at the doorstep for its students, the Industrial Training Institute (ITI) located on Mansa Road has managed to surpass its placement target for 2017-18.
Against a target of 350, the institute has managed to ensure jobs for its 372 students. Students who completed their course from the institute and have opted for higher studies, apprenticeship or setting up their own venture have also been considered in placement category. The institute offers a total of 16 courses.
Twenty-two out of 27 students from the fitter trade have got placements in private companies while three have opted for higher studies. Besides, two students have opened small businesses.
Similarly, in electrician, welder and mechanic trades, a majority of students have been placed in companies.
Talking to Bathinda Tribune, Gurpreet Kaur, principal of the ITI, said, “It is not for the first time that we have placed students more than the set target given by the higher authorities. We have done the same in the previous year also.” She further stated that companies located in the region kept on calling them for sincere and skillful students.
Besides, the best part is students who complete their courses get jobs near their homes, which makes their earning even more meaningful.
