Haryana win junior nat’l netball tourney

Players from different states showcased their skills and talent on the final day of the Junior National Netball Championship, being played at the Maisarkhana Netball Sports Academy here on Wednesday.

The Haryana team won the final match, both in the boys’and girls’ categories, while Punjab managed to secure the second spot in the championship. In the boys’ category, Delhi and Karnataka jointly shared the third place while Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka secured the third place jointly in the girls’ category.

The four-day-long championship started on Sunday and concluded on Wednesday. It saw the participation of more than 1,000 players from 27 states.

In the semifinal of the boys’ category, Punjab defeated Delhi 32-29 while Haryana defeated Karnataka 43-32.

In the semifinal girls’ category, the Punjab team defeated Delhi 39-32 while the Haryana team defeated Karnataka 37-34.

MS Chauhan, a former judge of the Punjab and Haryana High Court and Air Commodore Rajiva Ranjan, were the chief guests at the cl-osing ceremony.
