Hindi instrumental in joining the nation, says professor

The Central University of Punjab is celebrating Hindi Pakhwara from September 14-28, which includes activities and competitions such as essay writing, poem recitation, declamation and translation.
In view of the celebration of Hindi Pakhwara by the Official Language Implementation Committee at the Central University of Punjab, a singing competition was organised on the university campus.
Dr Rajinder Kumar gave an introduction and a brief description about the activities being organised as part of the Hindi Pakhwara.
He also deliberated upon the role of Bollywood in spreading and popularising Hindi. Many students, faculty and staff members regaled the audience with Hindi songs. Rangman Das, Prabhat Suman and Smriti Thakur bagged the top three prizes, respectively.
Dr Hans Raj Arora, associate professor, Centre for Law, was the chief guest on the occasion.
He praised the efforts of the university in organising the programme for the promotion of Hindi language and literature.
He said Hindi was a very receptive language and was instrumental in joining together the whole nation.
He also delighted the audience with his anecdotes and singing in his inimitable style.
Dr Monisha Dhiman proposed the vote of thanks at the conclusion of the event.
A Hindi translation competition was also organised and the closing ceremony will take place on September 28.
Prof Satyakam from Indira Gandhi National Open University will be the chief guest and will distribute prizes for various competitions organised in the series.
