Industry talk at BFGI gives students info on telecom sector

The Department of Training and Placement of the Baba Farid Group of Institutions (BFGI) has invited officials of Videocon Telecommunications Ltd. for enhancing the knowledge of students.

Neeraj Bist, AGM (operations), Videocon Telecommunications Ltd. and Navtej Singh, zonal technical head, Videocon Telecommunications Ltd., visited the BFGI campus for an industry talk with the students of pre-final and final year of MBA and BTech.

Neeraj Bisht told the students about the company and said, “Videocon offers GSM Mobile services under the brand name Videocon. The company also provides its services in Punjab, Gujarat, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh and soon will be present across the country. The Videocon group has constantly leveraged a culture of innovation to develop a range of market re-defining products. Videocon has one of the largest distribution networks in India with a nation-wide presence.”

He also talked about the trends, prevailing technologies and management strategies along with manpower required in the telecom sector, focusing on the preferences of Videocon Telecom.

Navtej spoke about the technical developments in the telecom industry and also told the students about the kind of knowledge required to get absorbed in the telecom industry and the expectations of industry from newcomers.

Experts also interacted with the students and answered their queries related to the technologies and management issues.

Gurmeet Singh Dhaliwal, Chairman, BFGI, appreciated the efforts of the department and thanked the officials of the company for their visit.

He said, “Keeping 100 per cent placemats in mind, BFGI continues to organise such placement drives of various companies from different sectors. The institution will continue to make students aware of the needs of these companies at the same time.”
