The team of the upcoming Punjabi film, ‘Jinda Sukha’, reached Bathinda city today as part of a promotional tour. Elaborating on the film, the cast and crew stated that the film is based on the letters exchanged between Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha, who are an important part of Punjab’s history.
Director of the film, Sukhjinder Singh, stated that films are not meant only to entertain the audience but sometimes are also made to revisit the lost pages of history so that the new generation comes to know about what transpired in the past and how it shaped their present.
He added that the story dates back to the 1980s when Harjinder Singh Jinda and Sukhdev Singh Sukha were given capital punishment for assassinating the then Army general Arun Kumar Sridhar Vaidya when an attack happened at the Golden Temple under the Operation Blue Star.
The film has been produced by Sukhchain Singh, Jaswinder Kumar and Ranjit Singh and stars Nav Bajwa, Sonpreet Jawanda, Sukhjinder Shera, Amritpal Singh, Sunita Dhir, Isha Sharma and Satwant Kaur.
Nav Bajwa stated that he is playing the character of Jinda and was influenced by his contribution to Sikhism. He said playing a real-life character wasn’t easy for me and added that he had to research a lot and consulted senior actors to show him the way.
The director-producer duo stated that they made a conscious decision to make a film of a real-life subject seeing the “immature approach of Punjabi cinema” which is following the beaten path of comedy films. They added that they wish to give a new definition to entertainment.
