Job fair draws scores in Mansa

The state government’s job fair under Ghar Ghar Rozgar Mission on Thursday attracted a large number of youngsters who thronged Royal Group of Colleges at Borawal in Mansa district.

Addressing the youth, Mansa DC Apneet Riyait said the government initiative was aimed at providing the right kind of employment opportunities to every household. “The government has set up District Bureau for Employment and Enterprises at every district that provides employment opportunity assistance to the unemployed or those seeking change of jobs,” she said. She added that 3,300 vacancies were available today in over 37 companies including major companies like Larsen and Toubro, Maruti, Eureka Forbes, Avon Cycle, ICICI Bank, Zomato, Talwandi Sabo Power Plant Limited and LIC India. All the visitors first got themselves registered at the registration counters and were then directed to the designated companies. Besides, students of classes XI and XII from 39 government schools too participated in the job fair. The basic aim behind making these students participate in the event was to give them exposure to the kind of jobs market has and the way they can gear themselves up to meet with the future challenges.

A huge information board was put up at the college site marking the rooms designated to various companies for conducting requisite tests and interview sessions. The Deputy Commissioner lauded the efforts of the district administration, employment bureau and the Royal Group of Colleges in making the event a grand success. The second job fair is being held at the Shiv Shakti Group of Colleges at Bhikhi on September 26, she added. Youngsters can also participate in the second job fair where more than 40 companies are expected to take part. The aspirants can register themselves on the portal of government or at the district employment bureau. ADC General Rajdeep Singh Brar, district employment generation officer Major Hapreet Singh (retd) and district Congress president Dr Manju Bansal were also present.
