Deputy Commissioner-cum-District Election Officer, Bathinda, Varinder Kumar Sharma, today said under the National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP) of the Election Commission of India work on linking Aadhaar card with the voter I-cards, removing anomalies from voters’ lists and bringing more accuracy in electoral rolls is being conducted.
Under the campaign, the third special camp is being held on June 14 from 10 am to 5 pm at the booths of all six assembly constituencies at every polling station.
Appealing to the voters to have their two important documents linked, the officiating DC stated that the information of the Aadhaar card should be given to polling station’s booth level officer (BLO) concerned.
He appealed to the people to cooperate with the BLOs in every possible manner. Besides, if anyone has two votes registered, one could be deleted at these camps. He added that double registration of vote was a punishable crime under the RP Act 1950. Besides, if someone cannot reach the polling station, he or she can link his or her Aadhaar card number with voters I card by following one of the several other methods.
He stated that one could send an SMS to 51969 as per this format:
ECILNIK < space >EPIC_Number< space >Aadhaar number. One could also can log on to the website of Election Commission of India at http://eci.nic.in National Voter Service Portal (NVSP) or download mobile application from ECI website or call at the state-level toll free number 1950.
