Local Bodies chief engineer visits MCB

Ajay Kanwar, Chief Engineer of Local Bodies Department, reached the office of Municipal Corporation, Bathinda, (MCB) today. He will inspect various construction works done under urban mission in Bathinda, Mansa and Muktsar districts as a third-party audit had detected irregularities in these works.
Kanwar remained in the MCB office for two and half hours and held a closed-door meeting with the officials. He passed on the directions of the new government and told officials to follow them and plug the drawbacks.
He left for Rama Mandi and Sangat for conducting checks. On the way, he stopped at Naruana road where he checked the ongoing development works.
The state government had built new roads under urban mission in the past one year. The works were inspected by a third-party under which a team had taken samples of materials used for these works and had tested them. It came to light during the inspection that in 10 cities under the Bathinda region, sub-standard material had been used in construction of roads and irregularities had been indulged in. In Bathinda district— Rama Mandi, Goniana, Nathana, Lehra Mohabbat, Kotha Guru, Mehraj, Bhagta Bhai Ka— and in Mansa district, reports of — Joga, Sardulgarh and Bareta— had failed.
