Former cabinet minister and senior SAD leader, Sikander Singh Maluka, today accused the Congress MLA from Rampura, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, of pursuing political vendetta against his party workers.
He challenged that if any of the seven cases registered against SAD workers could be proved to be true in the inquiry conducted by any agency, he would quit politics.
However, if the cases are proven false then Kangar should quit politics, he said.
Maluka said ever since the Congress had formed the government in the state, SAD workers were being implicated in false cases in Rampura.
He added that on March 16, SAD leader Happy Kansal was wrongly booked in a case. Later, on March 13, SAD workers at Bhai Rupa were booked in a false case, Maluka said.
He also claimed that on March 27, SAD workers at Bhai Rupa were wrongly booked in a case. Then, on April 12, Nagar Panchayat Bhairupa was booked in false case.
The former minister claimed that SAD workers were wrongly booked in a case at Kotha Guru village.
Later, wrong cases were registered against party workers at Bhagta Bhaika and Mehraj, he added.
Lashing out at the DSP and SHO, Maluka said these officials had become puppets in the hands of the MLA and were working on the directions of Gurpreet Singh Kangar.
He said he had met senior police officials, including IGP, DIG and Bathinda SSP, and they had also admitted that false cases had been registered and assured that these would be cancelled.
Maluka alleged under the patronage of Kangar, the gurdwara land had also been encroached at Bhai Rupa village. He said Congress leaders were trying to take power in nagar councils and panchayats by pressuring the members. Till now, around 30 ‘false’ cases have been registered against the SAD workers in Rampura constituency, Maluka added.
