Mansa boy tops state in NEET-PG examination

Ramandeep Singh of Ullak village in Mansa, a student of Guru Gobind Singh Medical College, Faridkot, has topped the state in the All India Postgraduate National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-PG). Ramandeep scored 941 out of 1,200 marks.

According to the National Board of Examination (NBE), Ramandeep has scored 19th position in the country.

Ramandeep’s father is an art and craft teacher in a Government Senior Secondary School at Burj Bhalai Ka in Mansa.

The state topper aspires to become a radiologist or a doctor in medicine. “I am yet to decide on which college I will chose to pursue my master as well,” Ramandeep says. He has started preparation for the PG-NEET along with MBBS studies. NEET is not a very difficult exam if you train your aim on cracking it right from the beginning and rely mainly on the text books. It is not only NEET UG or PG but the medical science need consistent and diligent efforts throughout life, said Ramandeep.

His elder sister is an engineering graduate from Punjab Engineering College, Chandigarh, and presently pursuing her M.Tech from National Institute of Technology, New Delhi.

Ramandeep not only made his family proud when he secured the 19th all India and Ist state rank but the teachers of his medical college here were highly appreciative of his achievement. Dr Raj Bahadur, Vice Chancellor, Baba Farid University of Health Sciences, congratulated Ramandeep Singh and his family for securing the top rank in the state. Undoubtedly it was the committed hard work of Ramandeep which paid reward to him, said the vice-chancellor. He also commended the college faculty who shaped him to be fitted in a frame of glory.

In all, over 1.48 lakh students appeared in the exam held on January 7. The cut-off score for NEET PG-2019 was comparatively high to last year. It was 321 marks for general category candidates, 281 for SC/BC/OBC and 300 for PWD.
