Master comedian Mehar Mittal mesmerises one and all

Mehar Mittal, the master comedian of Punjabi cinema, today visited DAV College in the city.

A programme organized on the occasion began with the lighting of the lamp by Mehar Mittal and a holy ‘shabad’ sang by students.

He was accorded a warm welcome by PD Goyal, chairman of the local committee, Vimal Garg, member of the committee, principal Dr Sanjeev Sharma and vice-principal Prof Varesh Gupta.

A memento was presented to the chief guest by staff secretary Prof Shishpal Jindal.

A vibrant cultural programme under the supervision of Dr Sukhdeep Kaur, youth coordinator, was held.

The participants displayed their talent in their performances in folk songs, giddha, bhangra and in a play.

Impressed by the performance, Mittal presented Rs 500 to Ramandeep Kaur, a student of MA English, who played the character of mother in the play “Mitti De Rishte”.

The principal expressed his gratitude towards the guest. He spoke about Mittal’s immense contribution to Punjabi cinema and also appreciated his role in bringing smiles to the faces of people in an otherwise despondent and melancholic world. 

He also spoke about Mittal’s cine career, educational background and his popular films. Mehar Mittal was delighted to watch the performances by students. He recited a few famous lines from his films that could elicit hearty laughter in the audience. He interacted with the audience and advised them to lead a simple life.
