Bathinda, December 1
After the news published in the Bathinda Tribune two days ago regarding the delaying in calling a general house meeting of the Municipal Corporation Bathinda (MCB) as last time meeting was convened three months ago on August 21, earlier this year, now MCB has swung into action and are planning to convene the general house meeting soon.
It is expected that MCB will convene a general house meeting in the first week of the December as MCB officials have also started preparing estimate for the agenda items which would be put in the meeting. Officials are also preparing an estimate for the ward wise development plan for the meeting and MCB will also ask the list of works which are being done in the ward from the councillors.
MCB Mayor Balwant Rai Nath also admits that there is a delay in convening a meeting of the general house , but he claims that they wanted to include a large number of development works in the agenda for the meeting, which takes time.
He said general house meeting will be convened in the first week of the December only as preparation of the estimates of the development works is going on in full swing.
It is pertinent to mention that as per the Punjab Municipal Corporation Act it is mandatory to hold at least one meeting of the house each month.
Even many councillors have raised questions over delay in the meeting of the general house of the MCB, but that has also failed to bring any result. Councillors even claim that general house meeting had been delayed as the mayor feared that the ongoing protests over sewage overflow even by SAD councillor in the city might lead to embarrassment in the house meeting.
