Maharaja Ranjit Singh Punjab Technical University (MRSPTU) Bathinda has become the first technical university in Punjab to be registered under 12-B of the UGC Act 1956.
As a result the university is now eligible for central assistance under University XII plan extended up to March 31, 2019 for construction and renovation of building, including renovation of heritage buildings, campus development, staff, books, journals, laboratory, infrastructure, conferences, publication grant, appointment of visiting professor, establishment of career and counseling cell, basic facilities for women and Faculty Development Programme, etc.
MRSPTU was established in 2015 and got approval from the UGC under 12B Act on the basis of availability of PhD faculty and significant publications in reputed international journals. The university has also excelled in extra-curricular activities. Now the affiliated colleges of MRSPTU would likely attain approval under 12B Act.
Vice Chancellor MRSPTU Dr Mohan Paul Singh Ishar said, “ The university will achieve world class status and establish excellent facilities for the students as well as the faculty.” He said various constituent and affiliated colleges under MRSPTU would also benefit with this approval.
Prof Jasbir Singh Hundal, Prof Gursharan Singh, Prof Buta Singh Sidhu, Prof Savina Bansal, Prof RK Bansal, Prof Manjeet Bansal and Prof Ashish Baldi congratulated the faculty, staff, students of MRSPTU for the achievement.
