Bathinda, April 3
Mukhwinder Singh Chhina took charge as Inspector General of Police (IGP), Bathinda Zone, today. Earlier, he was posted as IGP Security-II, Punjab, at Chandigarh.
Chhina is a recipient of the prestigious President’s Police Medal for meritorious service and is a two-time winner of the esteemed DGP’s ‘Commendation Disc’.
He is a 1998 batch IPS officer of SPS cadre. After joining the office, he held meetings with the district police officials.
While talking to mediapersons, Chhina said he would adopt a zero tolerance policy against drugs and would make sure that no drugs are smuggled inthe districts under the zone. The IGP said he had many plans to make policing better and create a friendly environment for the public seeking justice in the Bathinda zone.
When asked about resolving the Maur Blast case, Chhina said he would take up the details related to the case soon and resolving it would be his priority.
Earlier, the IGP was given a ceremonial guard of honour by the police department at the district administrative complex on his arrival at the office.
