Dedicated to National Youth Day 2020, the Youth Services Department and Nehru Yuva Kendra here is organising ‘My Village, My Pride’ contest from October 1 to 20. Various youth clubs of the district will be participating in the contest.
In order to ensure community participation in preventing stubble-burning, the district administration will honour the club that would prevent stubble-burning in the entire village.
Deputy Commissioner Mansa Apneet Riyait presided over a meeting held in this context today and stated that a pre-event workshop would be held on September 25 wherein all the concerned departments would be told about their defined roles in successful implementation of the entire program.
The participants will be given different tasks to perform and each task will carry certain marks. These will be evaluated after every 15 days. The best performing clubs will be honoured with cash prizes.
The DC added that the activities include cleaning the villages, anti-drug campaign, plantation drive, blood donation, morning walk, preventing stubble-burning, saving water, maintaining schools, participation of females, putting reflectors on animals, holding camps for health, agriculture or introducing any kind of new initiatives for villages. Those excelling in these areas will be honoured with certificates and cash prizes.
Assistant Director Youth Services Raghbir Singh Mann, Assistant Civil Surgeon Dr Sukhwinder Singh, District Program Officer Avinash Kaur Walia, Chief Agriculture Officer Dr Gurmail Singh, Coordinator Nehru Yuva Kendra Sarabjit Singh Bedi, Manager Nehru Yuva Kendra Sandeep Ghand, Coordinator MGNREGA Mandeep Singh Sidhu, Dr Chamandeep Singh, Shamsher Singh, Sangramjeet Singh and others were also present at the event.
