DC flags off mobile blood testing lab

Mansa Deputy Commissioner (DC) Apneet Riyait on Friday flagged off an anaemia testing van under the Poshan Abhiyaan to conduct free blood samples testing in villages.

Besides conducting free tests for anaemia and sugar, free X-Ray and blood pressure checking will also be conducted in this mobile van. The DC herself got tested for haemoglobin level in blood from the mobile testing laboratory. She said the van was being run by the Department of Health. In August, a total 6,173 people were examined at this mobile testing lab, which included 3,313 men and 2,860 women. She added that the data of villages regarding anaemic, high blood pressure, problems detected in tests was shared with the authorities concerned at village level, who provide further treatment to the patients.

The air-conditioned mobile van has an X-Ray room, a lab for blood testing, record room and a small toilet. It also has seating capacity for 5 people. It is manned by six employees of the Health Department, which includes a doctor, nurse, lab technician, pharmacist, driver and a cleaner.

On Sep 27, the van will visit Kot Lallu village, on Sep 28, Dalel Singh Wala village and on Sep 30, it will conduct tests at Moolan Singh Wala village.

The DC called upon people to derive maximum benefit of the programme. District Program Officer Avinash Kaur Walia was also present on the occassion.
