The elections to the posts of sarpanch and panch lying vacant will be held on June 11. The result will be announced on the same day.
ADC Shena Aggarwal said three posts of sarpanch and 25 posts of panch had been lying vacant in the eight blocks of Bathinda district.
In Sangat block, the elections will be held to the post of sarpanch of Kotli Khurd village, panches of Raike Khurd wards 1 and 6 and Mehta ward 9. In Maur block, the elections will be conducted to the posts of panch in ward 5 of Thammangarh, ward 2 of Ram Nagar and ward 1 of Sukh Singh Wala.
In Talwandi Sabo block, the election will be held in ward 5 of Menuana village and ward 7 of Kalal Wala village.
In Bathinda block, the poll will be conducted to the post of sarpanch of Virk Kalan and panches of ward 9 of Chughe Kalan, ward 1 of Multania, ward 4 of Bir Talab Basti, ward 4 of Jodhpur Romana, ward 7 of Gulabgarh and ward 7 of Balluana.
In Goniana block, the elections will be held to the post of sarpanch of Kothe Budh Singh and panches of ward 6 of Kothe Kaur Singh, ward 7 of Bhokhra, ward 3 of Tungwali.
In Nathana block, ward 5 of Phulewala Sidhana of Phul block, ward 3 of Kangar, ward 6 of Ramoowala, ward 1 of Hamirgarh, ward 8 of Jalal and ward 3 of Diyalpura Bhaika will go for poll on June 11.
Candidates can file their nomination papers till Tuesday. The papers will undergo scrutiny on May 31. The candidates will be able to withdraw their nomination papers till 3pm on June 1. The candidates in the fray will get poll symbols on the same evening. The elections will be held on June 11 from 8 am to 4 pm.
